Ethel Louise Allen Kurtz (June 2, 1916 – March 20, 2016) Just ten weeks shy of 100 years young, our firecracker of a loving mother, “Nannee”, sister, daughter, and faithful widow of 33 years, has added her radiance to the stars above. Ethel was born in Cheatham County, the eldest of 7, who all called her “Sissy”. As a young lady she enjoyed music, styling hair, art, sewing, and she could foxtrot all night long. During WWII, she worked as an aircraft inspector, and she always admired great women like Eleanor Roosevelt. Her beautiful artistry can be appreciated in her mural at The Little Marrowbone Church of Christ, near Ashland City. She married her sweetheart Eddie in 1947 and together they ran the Kurtz Piano & Organ Co. in Nashville, and traveled the world. She was preceded in death by 3 siblings; and survived by siblings Hubert Earl Allen Jr. (96), Florence Naomi Allen Gaddis (93), Vernon Shirley Allen (83) and also her children: Edward Gene Kurtz, Melinda Kurtz Sampson, 7 grandchildren, and 14 great-grands. When asked “What advice about life would you give to your family?” she said, “Always put God first.” Ethel was a true southern lady in the best sense, who always knew what she wanted and never let you forget it. She was fiery, spunky, and quick-witted. We will miss you, firecracker. We feel so blessed to have enjoyed your warmth for so many years. Grave side services at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
