LAWSON, Mrs. Clara Elizabeth, 83, of Richmond, Va., departed this life peacefully on Wednesday, January 29, 2014, at Chippenham Hospital.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years William "Bill" Lawson Sr.; her parents, Herman and Magnolia Penn; and siblings Nancy Ingram, Ada Mason, Glorice Taylor, Herman Penn Jr. and Edmond Penn.

She leaves to cherish her memory four children, William Jr. (Darlene), Wayne (Sonja), Michelle Brown (Anthony), and Michael (Esther); a devoted sister, Ethel Morris (Earvin) of Lawrenceville, VA; four brothers, Harvey Penn (Lou) of Lawrenceville, Roosevelt Penn (Hazel) of Fanwood, NJ, Elmer Penn (Doris) of Plainfield, NJ, and Millard Penn of Lawrenceville; two sisters-in-law, Rachel Patillo and Joyce Penn; nine grandchildren, Jamall, Kenneth, Travis, Argen, Patrick, Ashley, Courtney, India, and William III; five great-grandchildren, Jamia, Elijah, Nevaeh, Kaidyn, and Jayce; devoted friends, Ida Caldwell and Joyce Fox; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Friends and family were received from 6pm to 7pm on Monday, February 3, 2014, at Mimms Funeral Home, 1827 Hull Street. Funeral services were held at 1pm on Tuesday, February 4, 2014, at Swansboro Baptist Church, 3801 Midlothian Turnpike. Interment Maury Cemetery.
