Janice Daphine Joyner Mixon, 90 years old, of Panama City, Fla., has gone to be with her Lord and Savior while surrounded by her loved ones on March 20, 2016. Born Oct. 15, 1925, to Harper and Annie Mae McClenny Joyner, she was a lifelong resident of Panama City and graduate of Bay High School. She married Alfred T. Mixon Nov. 3, 1946, and celebrated 61 years together until his death in December 2007.

She is survived by her sister, Nadine Stephens and sister-in-law, Delle Joyner; sons, Gerald (Trudie) Mixon of Crestview, Fla., Donald (Jenny) of Tallahassee; grandsons, Grady (Roxanne) of Havana, Fla., Sterling Mixon of Denver, Colo., Taylor Mixon of Orlando, Fla., and Grayson Mixon of Pensacola, Fla.; two step-grandchildren, Kirk Kirkland (Patty) of Defuniak Springs, Fla., and Carla Kirkland of Crestview, Fla.; a great-granddaughter, Ava Mixon of Havana and numerous nieces and nephews, as well as special friends, Donna Melvin, Shirley and Dennis Haddock.

She was preceded by her husband; her parents; brothers, Raymond, Ewell, and Herschel; and one sister, Myrtice Joyner. A loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she and her family joined Immanuel Baptist Church in 1954. The family would like to thank the entire staff of GlenCove Nursing Home for their support and care.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 24, 2016, at 2 p.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Josh Spiers officiating. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Immanuel Baptist Building Fund or a .
