William F. McCullough, Sr., of 136 Boyles avenue, died at his home Tuesday, September 4, at 8:30 p. m., after a general decline in health due to advanced age. He had been failing since January.

Born in Westmoreland county, May 24, 1839, he was 78, years of age, past. He was a son of Abraham and Esther Chance McCullough. He was an engineer by occupation, and had made his home in New Castle for 47 years, consequently, was widely known, and was held in high regard by his countless friends. He was a member of the First Christian church, and was a man of sterling worth, charitable and kind in all his dealings. For the past 45 years, he had been a member of Mahoning Lodge No. 243, F. & A. M. [Free and Accepted Masons]

His wife, Mrs. Susan Gould McCullough, died 6 years ago, and since that, he had made his home with his children. They are as follows: Mrs. T. B. [Adella] McCarthy, Bellevue, Pa., Mrs. Robert J. [Mary Etta] Lowery, Boyles avenue, city; W. F. [William Franklin] McCullough, Jr., of Bellevue; H. C. [Harry Claude] McCullough, of Detroit, Mich.; J. E. [James Edward] McCullough, of Pittsburg. Another son, H. R. [Hollis Rushton] McCullough, preceded him in death. He leaves also two sisters, Mrs. R. H. [Margaret] McCullough, of Edenburg, and Mrs. Jane Knapp, of Knoxville, Pa., and a brother, A. [Albert] E. McCullough, of Detroit, Mich., in addition to 8 grandchildren.

The Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the late residence, 136 Boyles avenue, and Interment will be made in Oak Park cemetery.
