Mr. Cover, a native of Detour, Md., had retired from the Virginia Beach Police Department after 22 years. He had also retired from the Navy after 20 years. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War and was a member of Oceana Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Mary K. Cover; three daughters, Rebecca Wellborn of Kennesaw, Ga., and Wanda C. Wilson and Dawn M. Cover, both of Virginia Beach; two sons, Steven R. Cover and Michael H. Cover, both of Virginia Beach; a sister, Lu Ellen Pfoutz of Union Bridge, Md.; and four grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 12:30 p.m. Saturday in Oceana Church of Christ by the Rev. David Smith. Burial with police honors will be in Princess Anne Memorial Park. Friends may join the family from 7 to 9 p.m. today in Kellum Funeral Home.
Memorial donations may be made to the Virginia Beach Rescue Squad or to the Oceana Church of Christ.
