Michigan resident Jerry Barnett died peacefully at home on Wednesday at the age of 68. His parents were Paul and Evelyn (nee Grace) Barnett who were of Swedish and Irish descent. Jerry was a former resident of Mt. Clemens, Montana and a 1965 graduate of St. Philip Neri High School in Detroit. He played high school football and baseball and enjoyed hot rod racing. Jerry was a proud veteran of the United States Army having served during the time of the Vietnam War. He attended Schoolcraft College and Oakland University. He retired in 2002 after 35 years as a buyer for DTE. He was an active and devoted Mason & Shriner for over 40 years, serving, among other duties, as bus driver for Shriner's Childcare. He had also been an active parishioner and usher at Christ Our Light Catholic Church, Troy. His pastimes included fishing, hunting, reading, the performing arts, and Caribbean travel; he was a fan of the Detroit Tigers, Detroit Lions, Detroit Red Wings and University of Michigan sports.
