Spruille Braden Jr. of Bethel, CT passed away peacefully on March 20, 2016 at Regional Hospice and Home Care, surrounded by his family and relatives.
Spruille was born in Riverdale, NY on July 19, 1925 and was the youngest of five children to US Ambassador Spruille Braden and Maria Humeres del Solar Braden.

Volunteering in the Merchant Marines during World War II he received an Honorable Discharge on July 23, 1945.
He then attended Yale University where he received a Degree in Industrial Engineering in 1950. After his graduation he worked in South America as an Executive for several international corporations including WR Grace and IBEC and for the United States Government as a Latin American Expert. He later moved back to the US where he completed his working career as the Director of Chapter Development for the Institute of Management Accounting, from where he retired in 1992.

Before retiring he moved to Bethel to be near his family. During retirement he was elected to the Town of Bethel - Board of Finance serving as Chairman in 2006. Additionally, he sat on the Board of the Bethel Public Library, the Ethics Committee, the Bethel Charter Revision and the Republican Town Committee.
Spruille was an avid reader and a car enthusiast, but most memorable he was a kind and gentle person.
Spruille was married in 1947 to his wife of 55 years Elda Caballero Braden of Camaguey, Cuba, who passed away in 2002 and with whom he had three children Alina, Spruille and George.

He is survived by his second wife Cecilia DeMiguel Braden, his three children and their spouses Kathy Braden and Claudia Stephan Braden, along with his grandchildren Alina Maria, Adriana Lucila, Maria Adelaida, Spruille, Karly, Patrick and Francesca, their spouses and 13 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews, who will miss him greatly.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am on Wednesday, March 22, 2016 at St. Mary Church, Bethel, CT. Interment will be at the convenience of the family in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Valhalla, NY.

Friends will be received from 4-7pm on Tuesday, March 21, 2016 at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Spruille's memory may be made to Regional Hospice and Home Care, 30 Milestone Rd., Danbury, CT 06810 or to the Bethel VNA,70 Stony Hill Rd., Bethel, CT 06801.
