JANET ELAINE "MOMMA REESE" REESE, of Fort Wayne, went home to glory Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2006. Born Jan. 21, 1950, she was the daughter of the late Julius Kennedy Jr. and Vnetter Kennedy-Davison. She accepted Christ at an early age at Pilgrim Baptist Church and later joined Jerusalem Baptist Church following marriage. She served on many organizations in the church. She worked for 23 years at Verizon. She was an icon in Fort Wayne and surrounding cities known as "Momma Reese". Surviving are her mother, Vnetter Kennedy-Davison; husband, Charlie Sr.; nine sons, Charlie Jr. (Marsha), Terry (Jean), Elgin (Danielle), Quinten, Walter (Tamona), Julian, Donlaray, Javon, Richard; four daughters, Vnemina (Omar) Cooper, Nedrena, Jana, Maqube'; brothers, Julius Kennedy III, Ronald Kennedy and Lawrence Kennedy; sister, Yvonne Johnson; brothers-in-law, Albert (Patricia) and Larry (Joyce); sisters-in-law, Melinda and Betty Reese and Queen Ester Belcher; special loving friend, Emma Bostic; special daughter, Shkelia Leshore; 15 grandchildren "my Kids", Jumar and Charnetta Guy; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and relatives. Funeral service is 2:13 p.m. Saturday at Pilgrim Baptist Church, 1313 Gay St. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday at Jerusalem Baptist Church, 1151 Francis St. Private interment in Lindenwood Cemetery.
