Will Rogers White passed away on Monday, March 27, 2015, at the Hospice House in Charlottesville, Virginia, after a long illness of COPD.
He was born May 4, 1936, in Mobile, Alabama, to the late Malcolm and Willie D. White.
He was preceded in death by his siblings, Teddy White, Dolores Bubenchek and Norman White.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Sue Strain White; son, Roger Wilson White of Pigeon Forge, Tennessee; and daughter, Janice White Daschbach of Charlottesville, Virginia. Bill also leaves three grandchildren, Connor Daschbach, Dalton White, and Hannah White; sisters, Patsy Smith of Mobile, Alabama and Carolyn Crane of Madison, Alabama; brother, Ashbel (Bobbie) White of Mobile, Alabama, and sister-in-law, Wanda White of Mobile, Alabama; dear friends, Greg Roberts, Mikki Mosley, Lon and Harriet Bishop.
Bill graduated from Auburn University with a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering Degree in March 1963. He looked forward to fall and football season taking in many home and bowl games. He served on active duty in the Army during the Berlin Crisis.
His work took him to Aiken, South Carolina and Old Hickory, Tennessee working for DuPont. Later he worked for Olin Chemicals in Indiana, Lake Charles, Louisiana, and Augusta, Georgia. He was active in the ASME, Aiken Jaycees, Boy Scouts, school activities for his children and as a CCD teacher.
A memorial mass will be held at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Alderman Road, Charlottesville, Virginia, Father Stephen Alcott will officiate.
The burial will be in Aiken, South Carolina at a later date.
