Born July 8, 1939 at her family home in Monroe Twp., she was the daughter of the late Alva and Elsie Harriger Henry.
Ms. Smith attended Clarion-Limestone High School. She later worked as a Mary Kay consultant and as a secretary for various businesses throughout her life. She was also a member of the First United Methodist Church in Clarion.
Prior to her illness, she enjoyed church functions, square dancing, and visiting with friends and family. She was an animal lover; cats were a particular favorite.
Ms. Smith is survived by her daughter, Robin A. Courson, of Lugoff, SC; her daughter-in-law, Cheryl (Greg) Furlong, of Summerville; her son-in-law, Jeff Courson, of Ridgeway, SC; her seven grandchildren, Amanda Girt, Jeffrey Courson, Ashley (Eric) McLaughlin, Abby (Mike) Smith-Kaltenbach, Ian (Erica) Courson, Anna Courson, and Brandy (Jeremy) Girt; and seven great- grandsons, Logan, Kai, Lincoln, Lawson, Brecken, Kabe, and Carson. Also surviving are a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Ms. Smith was preceded in death by her two sons, Craig W. and Martin Scott Smith. She is also preceded in death by her four brothers, Lee, E. Clair, Glenn, and Reeves Henry and three sisters, Garnet Schwab, Joan Bryant, and Doris Perry.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 9, 2016 from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at the Robert V. Burns Funeral Home in Clarion.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 10, 2016 at 11 AM at the First United Methodist Church in Clarion with Reverend James Dietrich officiating.
Interment will follow at Cedarview Memorial Park in Strattanville, Clarion County.
