Mr. Lloyd Benjamin Freeman, Sr., of Hampton, died Saturday afternoon in the Veterans Victory House in Walterboro.

Mr. Freeman was born in Hampton County, a son of Ruby Crews Freeman and the late James Earl Freeman. He had worked with CSX Railroad, and retired from the family NAPA Parts Store in Hampton.

He served in the National Guard, was a member of the Varnville First Baptist Church, and was active in the activities at the Veterans Victory House, where he was President of the Residents Committee.

He was a 1963 Graduate of Wade Hampton High School and a star football player.

Surviving, besides his mother of Hampton, are: his wife, Doris Oquinn Freeman of Hampton; sons, Lloyd Freeman, Jr. (Sabrina) of Graniteville, and Shane Freeman of Macon, Georgia; daughter, Shari F. Manders (David) of Beech Island; step-children, George H. Cooler, Sr. (Ruby) of Early Branch, Harvey Carroll Cooler (Winnie) of Early Branch, Catherine C. Slowik (Edward) of Ridgeland, and Cecil L. Humbert (Holly) of Ridgeland; brother, Earl Freeman, Jr. (Linda) of Hampton.

There are six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and a number of step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 4 PM Monday in the Chapel of Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home, conducted by Rev. Dr. Tommy Kelly, with burial in the Rivers Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 PM Monday prior to services, located at the Chapel at 300 Mulberry Street West in Hampton.
