George was born in New Hanover, Pennsylvania on July 26, 1749, his parents were Johannes John Ehrhard and Maria Louise Heydelbachin. About 1775, he married a woman named Catharina in Pennsylvania, but her family name is unknown. Catharina probably died around 1788. She probably was the mother of George's oldest children. George then married Elizabeth Pierrot in Pennsylvania. By 1790, George, Elizabeth and their family were living in New London Township in Chester County, Pennsylvania. Before 1799, Elizabeth had died. This Elizabeth was possibly the mother of some of George's later named children. George then married Elizabeth Fanchon. They moved to Ohio around 1799, where George was listed on the tax list for Hamilton County, Ohio. George had younger children named Huldah, Tryphena, Mary, Sanford, Sarah, and Peggie, but which Elizabeth was their mother is unknown.

George died in Hamilton County on November 15, 1836. He is buried, along with his third (or second) wife, Elizabeth, in the Armstrong Chapel Cemetery, Indian Hill, Columbia Township. Elizabeth was born in 1777.
