of Horseheads, NY passed away as a result of an automobile accident on February 6, 2016 in Syracuse, NY at the age of 82. Howard was born on December 14, 1933 in Alpine, NY, a son of the late Loren and Valentine Rogers Ayres. Howard is also predeceased by all his siblings. He served his country honorably with the US Army. Howard was employed by Coca Cola as a sales manager for many years and recently enjoyed working at Lowe's. He was an active member of the Horseheads American Legion, an avid bowler and enjoyed traveling to tournaments with his son. He will always be remembered for his ever present smile. Howard is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Bonnie Hamilton Ayres of Horseheads, NY; son, Howard Loren (Shakita) Ayres of Horseheads, NY; brothers-in-laws and sisters-in-laws, Clayton "Toni" (Lois) Hamilton, Florence (Lou) Carrigan, Charles Hamilton, Barbara (Gerry) Kelly and Ross (Joan) Hamilton; grandchildren, Landon and Josiah and several other out of state grandchildren and great grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Relatives and friends are invited to Sullivan's Funeral Home, 365 E. Franklin St. at Rt. 13, Horseheads, NY on Saturday, February 13, 2016 from 11:30AM - 2PM. Howard's Funeral Service and Military Honors will be held at the conclusion of hours with Rev. Dr. David Sullivan officiating. Howard will be laid to rest in Woodlawn National Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
