NEAL – Martha (Koot), 89, Windber, was called home to her heavenly father March 12, 2016.
Born April 18, 1926, in Windber, and was the second to youngest daughter of Frank and Mary (Gorczyk) Koot. Lovingly greeted at heaven’s gates by parents; infant son, Paul; daughter, Reita; granddaughter, Naomi Sklinar; great-granddaughter, Victoria Barnes; along with her brothers, Stanley, William, John and Joseph; and sisters, Sophia, Thressa, Rose, Julia and Anne. Martha was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She will be forever loved and missed by her surviving children, Paulette Sklinar, Anita Corey, Larry Neal and Kathy Barnes. Martha was blessed to have had 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Martha worked at McCrory’s Store in Windber for many years, but found her true calling when she started working for Head Start in 1964. Martha continued to work with children until the age of 82, when she finally retired from Kuddle Korner, Windber. Martha lived her life to the fullest, enjoying her family, gardening and playing bingo. Member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Windber, where funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, the Rev. Roderick N. Soha, pastor. Interment, St. John Cantius Catholic Cemetery, Windber. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at William Kisiel Funeral Home, Windber, where vigil for the deceased will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Martha’s memory to Table Land Services, c/o Robert Koot, 1018 First St., Windber, Pa. 15963. Checks can be made payable to Table Land Services, please include “Koot Karts” in the memo section.
