Frederick Wayne Shears, 74, of Vienna, passed away March 17, 2016 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, OH following a short illness. He was born in Parkersburg, June 24, 1941, one of nine children of the late Ralph D. Shears and Mabel Stephen Shears Byers.

Fred retired from the Roofers Union Local #242 in 1998 after thirty-seven years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. In his earlier years, he played on the 19th Street Church of God baseball team. He also enjoyed classic cars, restoring a 1979 Camaro to show. Fred enjoyed car shows and was a car show judge. The main focus of his life was his family.

Surviving Fred are his wife of fifty-four years, Sharon Lynn Smith Shears, daughters Kimberly Weekley (Ron), Kelly Shears, Kathy Foster (Christian), six grandchildren Jordan, A.J., Levi, Alyssa, Ethan, Melody, one great grandson Hayden Wayne Shears, several nieces and nephews and sister in law Jo Ann Smith.

In addition to his parents, Fred was preceded in death by his daughter Kerry Shears Bobo, four brothers Everett, Tom, Frank, Ronnie and four sisters Mary, Margie, Jackie and Ethel.

The funeral service will be 11:00 am Tuesday with Pastor Jimmy Cox officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memory Gardens.
