Kevin M. Donahue, of New Haven, formerly of Milford, passed over to eternal peace on Tuesday, November 8, 2005, at home, after a brief illness, with his loving wife, Janice (Nitowski Gruenwald) Donahue, at his side. Mr. Donahue was born in Waterbury, on June 2, 1952, to the late John D. (Jiggs) Donahue and the late Dorothy (Coogan) Donahue, originally from Waterbury, then of Milford. Mr. Donahue attended Sacred Heart Grammar School in Waterbury prior to moving to Milford, where he attended grammar school in Milford. He went on to Milford Academy and graduated in 1971. Mr. Donahue then graduated from St. Leo-s University in Florida where he received a B.S. degree in chemistry and Abnormal Psychology. While at St. Leo-s University, he taught sciences to nursing students at the University of Tampa. Also while at St. Leo-s he was a member of the Sigma Lambda honor fraternity. Mr. Donahue then went on to attend Yale University School of Medicine where he did a complete rotation of courses. After completing his education, he was employed by the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Washington, D.C., where he worked in the Chemistry Division along with the Criminal Investigation Division. Upon leaving the government, Mr. Donahue was employed by Greco and Haines Inc. of Derby, as a chemist in the field of Water Filtration and Purification where he worked until his illness. Mr. Donahue was a star athlete while at Milford Academy participating in basketball, baseball and football. While attending Milford Academy, Mr. Donahue participated in many athletic leagues, developing many life-long friendships. He-s best known for his friendly nature and positive attitude on life whether bad or good. Survivors include his loving best friend and wife, Janice M. Donahue; stepson, Erik F. Gruenwald of Vail, Colo.; stepdaughter, Sara M. Ippolito; grandson, Salvatore Ippolito of Naugatuck; mother-in-law, Mrs. Emily (Nitowski) Mrazik of Naugatuck; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, John and Diane Santopietro, of Wolcott; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ronald and Jackie Nitowski, of Indiana; along with several nieces, nephews, cousins and lifelong family friends, Elizabeth and Dorothy Schildgen, of Milford, and Florida; and numerous other friends and his coworkers at Greco and Haines. Friends may call on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Cody-White Funeral Home, 107 Broad Street, on the Green, Milford. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, November 12, at 11 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association, 45 Ash Street, East Hartford, CT 06108.
