E. Arnold Goff, 66, Golfer, Dies in S.L.

E. Arnold "Arn" Goff, three-time champion of the Salt Lake City Amateur Golf Tournament and twice champion of the Utah State Amateur, died in a Salt Lake hospital Friday after a long illness.
Mr. Goff, 66, won the State Amateur in 1944 and 1945. He won the City amateur in 1938, 1945 and 1946. He also won the All Church Tournament sponsored by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1952.
Besides his golf interest Mr. Goff was active in bowling. He served as director of the Salt Lake City Bowling Assn. from 1962 to 1969, when he became third vice president of the association.
He was a member of the Fort Douglas Hidden Valley Country Club where he won the club golf championship in 1944 and, after 27 years, repeated the feat in 1971.
Born in Salt Lake City June 30, 1908, he was a son of George A. and Josephine Morris Goff. He married Lucy Rowland Oct. 20, 1937, in Salt Lake City.
He was employed by Beneficial Life Insurance Co. 42 years and retired in June, 1973.
He was an active member of the LDS Church and served a mission to England.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Rowland, Salt Lake City; Richard H., Clovis, N.M., and three grandchildren.
Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Frank (Kathryn) May, Bountiful; and Mrs. Virgil (Mary) Smith, Salt Lake City.
Funeral services will be Monday at 1 p.m. in the Yalecrest LDS Ward Chapel, 1035-18th East. Friends may call at 260 E. South Temple Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m., and at the ward chapel Monday one hour before services. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery.
