Dale L. Woods, age 72, of Montclair, Va., died peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on February 12, 2016, after living with ampullary cancer, a type of bile duct cancer, for over two years. She was born November 6, 1943, in Florence, S.C., to Jack and Blanche Quel of Sandston, Va. She is survived by her parents; her husband of 47 years, Clyde E. Woods; and daughters, Sara E. Woods of Alameda, Calif., and Lisa M. Woods of San Francisco, Calif.
Dale graduated in 1966 from Mary Washington College, now University of Mary Washington, with a bachelor's degree in history. She gracefully handled life as a military spouse during the first twenty years of marriage and was proud of her role in military life. In her professional life, Dale taught elementary school in Prince William County, Va.; Kwajalein, Marshall Islands; and briefly in Rochester, N.Y.
Dale was known for her loving and kind spirit, her generosity, and her quick smile. She loved to travel, explore new places and meet people along the way. Dale was a devoted wife, a loving mother, an irreplaceable family member, and loyal friend. Her greatest joys in life were her relationships with family and friends. It is through these relationships that Dale will best be remembered and cherished. While she is no longer with us in body, Dale's spirit will live on in the hearts of those she loved and who loved her.
Dale will be remembered in a Celebration of Life at the National Museum of Marine Corps Chapel on Saturday, March 12, 2016, at 11 a.m. The internment will be Monday, March 14, 2016, at 11 a.m., at the Quantico National Veterans Cemetery.
