Older brothers and sisters in the family were John, Minnie, Anna, Orrison and Mary. Ethland was a year old when the family bought and moved to a farm eight miles north of Audubon, which was to be for nineteen years the family's home. In the Audubon community, the older sons and daughters were educated and grew to man and womanhood.
In 1902 the family bought the farm one mile north of Dexter and came there to live, moving after a time to live in Dexter. In the year 1905 Ethland became the bride of George E.
