Graveside services for Chlotilde "Chlo" Abernathy, 96, of Lubbock will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 14, 2011, in Resthaven Memorial Park with the Reverend Elizabeth Abraham officiating. Arrangements are under the care of Sanders Funeral Home.
Chlo Abernathy died on Feb. 10, 2011, at her home.
She was born June 5, 1915, in Centre, Ala., to Robert and Ethel Abernathy. Chlo graduated from Floydada High School in 1930 and Draughn's Business College. She moved from Floydada to Lubbock in 1938. Chlo was employed at F.W. Woolworth's for 40 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church and the Lois Sunday School Class. For many years she was a volunteer at Meals on Wheels of Lubbock, delivering meals to homebound, elderly and disabled people of Lubbock. Chlo enjoyed many activities including knitting, reading, traveling and playing games with her friends.
Loved ones include her brother, Judson Kyle Abernathy; niece, Judith Abernathy; and her nephew, Garland David Abernathy.
The family suggests memorials to Hospice of Lubbock.
