James "Gomer" Alsup, age 93, of Gravette, Arkansas, died Wednesday, March 16, 2016, at his home.
He was born February 23, 1923, in Goodlett, Texas, to Abe and Pearl (Morrow) Alsup.
He served in the Army in Japan and the Philippines during WWII. He was a member of the VFW and a Mason.
He moved to Gravette in 1977, after retiring from Pioneer Gas in Midland Texas. He was an active member at the Senior Citizens Center. He was a member of the Hang Loose Cutting Horse Association and trained horses. He was a member of the Decatur Salebarn Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Gloria; three brothers, Lee Roy, Aubrey and Bob Alsup; and one sister, Naomi Yates.
Visitation will be 9:00-10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 19, 2016 at the Decatur Salebarn Church.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 19, 2016, at the Salebarn Church in Decatur with Pastor Terry Horton and the Rev. Dr. Darrell Kepler officiating.
Burial will follow in Bethel Cemetery in Gravette.
