James M. Cox, age 72, of North Cape May passed away peacefully Friday, January 1, 2016 at Shore Medical Hospital.
Jim was born May 3, 1943 in Wildwood, NJ and has been a life-long Cape May area resident. He is the son of the late Louis and the late Adele (Frymier) Cox. Jim was a 1961 graduate of Lower Cape May Regional High School. He was class president of the first class to graduate from the new school. Jim was a 1965 graduate of Rutgers University.
He served his country in the US Navy where he graduated from Officer's Training School and Communications School. Jim was stationed at the US Naval Air Station, Philippines, and retired from the Navy in 1982 as Lt. Commander. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of CMCH and a member of the choir. Jim was an avid sports fan. He was employed by Burke Motors as a Sales Manager and Finance Manager.
Jim is survived by his wife of 50 years Helen (nee Miller) Cox of North Cape May; and two sons: Richard A (Connie) Cox & David M Cox. Also surviving are two grandchildren: Bryce Louis Cox and Rachael Elizabeth Cox; one brother Louis W Cox; a niece Marcella (nee Cox) Garwood; and one grand nephew Brendan Garwood.
There will be a Memorial Service at 11:00 AM on Thursday, January 07, 2016 at the Evoy Funeral Home, 3218 Bayshore Rd, North Cape May, NJ 08204; where friends will be received from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Cold Spring Cemetery, 780 Seashore Rd, Cold Spring, NJ 08204
