Sister Marie Helen Barton was born in Mims, Florida on April 26, 1931. She joined the hands of the Lord on Saturday, September 1, 2012.

Sister Marie was the daughter of Floyd Barton, Sr. and Roberta Barton of Mims, FL. She attended and graduated from Titusville Negro High School.

Sister Marie was employed by Nevins Packing House for several years and Jess Parrish Memorial Hospital for 25 years before retiring.

Since her youth, Sister Marie has been a faithful member of Greater St. James Missionary Baptist Church, Mims, FL. She loved her pastor Rev. Keith Buckner and the ministering she received from the clergy staff. One of her most treasured passages in the Bible, Galatians 5:22-23, reads:

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,

23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

Sister Marie was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by brothers, Floyd Barton, Jr. and Glenn Barton.

She is survived by her loving son, Ronald Barton (Louise) of Titusville, FL, and a loving daughter, Kimberly Barton Harris (Thomas) of Rockledge, FL; a loving granddaughter, whom she raised, Rhonda Barton of Cocoa, FL; four great-grandchildren, Anthony Duncan, Saxon Williams, Sadiq "Zack" Williams and Lyric Marie Williams all of Cocoa, FL; sisters, Betty Morley (Clifton), Marian Thomas of Titusville, FL, and Juanita Barton of Mims, FL; brother Wesley Barton (Joan) of Titusville, FL; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins; loving and devoted friends.
