Charles Smeby, 40 years of age, the furniture repairer who shot himself at 4:30 o'clock Saturday afternoon while standing on the bridge of the Liberty Park lagoon, died yesterday afternoon at 3:59 o'clock in the emergency hospital.
Numerous citizens who read of Smeby's attempt upon his own life called at the emergency hospital during the day, but none was able to throw any more light upon the man's past history and relatives than was gained from varous sources while he lay dying and as published yesterday morning.
The body was taken to the Qualtrough-Allcott morgue, where it will be held pending further investigation. So far as now appears, the man's only relative is his aged mother, residing in Christiania, Norway.
