Georgia Anne Jackson, 87, of Bellefontaine, started her journey home at 7:10 a.m. Wednesday, March 9, 2016, at Mary Rutan Hospital.

She was born in Urbana on April 19, 1928, to the late Clarence and Erma West Kohler.

On Oct. 17, 1948, she married Paul Willard Jackson and he preceded her in death Nov. 8, 1993. She also was preceded in death by two daughters, Rachel A. Bollas-Ramsey and Amy C. Brown; a son, Joseph L. Jackson; three grandchildren, Little “Eddie” and Cottie Jackson, and Adam Johnson; and four brothers, Allen, Thomas, Bob and Don Kohler.

Survivors include four daughters, Sarah R. Williams of Hubert, N.C., Erma R. (Earl) Davis of Mesa, Ariz., Betsy A. (Dennis) Johnson of Bellefontaine and Samantha S. (Tim Baker) Jackson of Urbana; five sons, Ralph E. (Wanda Redfield) Jackson of Oakdale, Conn., Charles S. (Judy) Jackson of Manchester, Mich., Francis P. (Kathy) Jackson and William H. Jackson, both of St. Cloud, Fla., and George O. (Cathy) Jackson of Bellefontaine; a daughter-in-law, Pam Jackson; 31 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Judy Kohler; in-laws, Martha Jackson, Helen Mohr, Mary Ruth Jackson, Charles “Sonny” and Charlotte Jackson, and Howard “Bud” and Jeanine Jackson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Georgia’s most important job was being a “Mom,” to not only her own children, but also an immeasurable number of youths in Logan County. A homemaker and avid artist, her talents included sewing, writing, painting, singing, cooking, gardening and photography. It was a rare moment that Georgia was not found creating something beautiful.

Georgia was a member of the Waynesfield United Methodist Church. She was known locally for the puppet shows she performed for many years, while organizing the children’s program at the Middleburg United Methodist Church. Georgia also was instrumental in starting the Head Start Program in Logan County.

Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 11, at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, 321 N. Main St., Bellefontaine, and one hour prior to a funeral at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 12. Burial follows in Highland Memorial Cemetery, West Liberty.
