Chester E. Harden, 92, of Miller, NE died Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at Good Samaritan Society in Ravenna, NE.

Funeral services will be Monday, March 21, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at the Miller Christian Church in Miller, NE. Rev. Eric Wood will officiate. Burial will be at Armada Cemetery in Miller. Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services in Kearney are in charge of arrangements.

He was born November 26, 1923 in Crawford, NE to Harold and Minnie (Porter) Harden. He grew up in Alliance, and Hemingford, NE. He was a veteran and served in the U.S. Army Air Force.

He lived in Sidney, NE and worked as a cook then on December 31, 1953 he married Caroline Swisher in Sidney, NE.

The couple lived in Cairo where he did farm work then moved to the Gibbon/Lowell area and worked for Rayburn Trucking. He then worked for Ace Irrigation in Kearney. In 1977 he moved to Miller and trucked for Stan Bowie. He also was a self employed carpenter.

He attended the Miller Christian Church and was a member of the Eagles Lodge in Kearney. Chester enjoyed camping, fishing welding and vegetable and flower gardening.

Surviving relatives include his son, Harvey Harden of Miller, NE; daughters, Ellen Boswell of Denver, CO, Rita Hurt and husband Alan of Fremont, NE, Linda Rickert and husband Terry of Wood River, NE; 17 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren and his sister Norma Dichute of Lebanon, OR; daughter-in-law, Elaine Hackbart of Hebron, NE and son-in-law, Marvin Serr of Kearney.

He was preceded in death by his wife in 2004; son, Alan Harden; half-sister, Margaret; grandson, Cody Harden and step-children, Ida Rose Serr and Loren and Roy Hackbart.
