Funeral Services for Helen Marie Riggs, 75, of West Plains were held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 21, 2006, at the Junction Hill Pentecost Church under the direction of Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.Mrs. Riggs died at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 17, 2006, in West Vue Nursing Home. She was born on April 16, 1931, in Crider, Mo., to Joel Vest and Parzettie R. Callahan Fox. She received her education in the Crider, Licking and Bakersfield, Mo. schools. On Oct. 19, 1957, she was married to Leamon Harold Riggs who preceded her in death on Dec. 8, 1985. She was employed for several years with the International Shoe Company. She enjoyed cooking for people and was an exceptionally good cookie maker. She was affectionately known as "Grandma Cookie" at CrossRoads Christian Academy where her grandchildren attended. Mrs. Riggs was a charter member of the Junction Hill Pentecost Church and had served as a Sunday school secretary and children's church director. She loved sharing her faith with others and inviting people to church. Mrs. Riggs is survived by two sons, Ralph Riggs and wife, Lisa, and Ray Riggs and wife, Tami; four grandchildren, Stephanie Nietzel and husband, Heath, Tabitha Riggs and Ryan Riggs and Regan Riggs of West Plains. She loved and adored her grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother, Elvin V. Fox and wife, Betty, of Arapahoe, Colo.; two sisters-in-law, Yvonne Alexander of Jefferson City, Mo., and Janice Riggs of Fort Smith, Ark; and many nieces and nephews.Her parents; husband; four sisters, Cleo Ritchey, Freda Cook, Ella Williams and Mary Fox precede her in death. Mrs. Riggs was a loving mother, mother-in-law and grandmother and will be missed by all. Burial was held at the Oak Lawn cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to CrossRoads Christian Academy and Junction Hill Pentecost Church and left at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
