Stanley Russell Long of Upland, California passed away on Sunday, March 13, 2016. Stanley was born on September 5, 1924 in Pennsylvania. Stanley was preceded in death by his childhood sweetheart and wife of 68 years, Anna Myrl (Ebersole), sister Mildred, brother Samuel, and grand- daughter, Andrea Hartman.
Stanley worked for Wengert's Dairy in Lebanon, Pennsylvania. In 1964 Stanley moved his family to California to manage the Christian Light Bookstores. In 1984 Stanley and Anna Myrl opened their own bookstore, Long's Christian Bookstore, in Rancho Cucamonga and enjoyed serving the community for 26 years before retiring and closing the Bookstore.
Stanley was well-known for his expertise in the area of Christian Education. He was very active in the life of the Upland Brethren In Christ Church and served in several leadership roles in the Berdue Riverside Sunday School Association (BRASS) and the Greater Los Angeles Sunday School Association (GLASS). Stanley and Anna Myrl were very active in the Southern California Festival & Sale for World Hunger and Relief and also helped to establish the MCC Thrift Store in Rancho Cucamonga.
Stanley is survived by his four children: Ron (Cathy), Beth Ream (Rick), Kathy Musser (Merle), Alice Hartman (Ron); seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
