At his death, Mr. Mitchell owned 125 acres of land, 15 hogs, four cattle, and several mules. He had enough wealth to pay poll tax with made him one of the few blacks in the county who were eligible to vote.
He was the husband of Jessie Mitchell (née Miller). His parents were Warren Mitchell and Georgia Mitchell (née Hollis).
