Loretta Burgess 72, passed away in Santa Cruz Wednesday, January 30, 2008 after a lengthy illness. She is survived by her husband Blair Burgess and son Christian both of Felton, and daughter, Dawne Lawton, husband, Peter and grandchildren, Tyler, Zachary, and Hayley of Valencia, PA, her brother Lee Walker and wife Corina, of Tampa, FL, and niece Levon Chavez, nephew Jeremy Walker, sister, Lynne Lightfoot, husband Kurt, and niece Chelsea of Poway, CA and brother-in-law Harold Burgess and wife Rita of Palmyra, VA. A native of Waterloo, Iowa, she received her BA Degree in psychology from Manchester College, North Manchester, Indiana. A Felton resident for 25 years, she worked as a human resources recruiter for many years, later taught elementary school, before returning to her career as a recruiter, which she loved. Loretta was love, joy and kindness. Among her many passions were traveling, cooking, art, music, ballet, opera, dancing, fashion, and the theatre. Most of all, Loretta loved spending time with her family and friends. She will be greatly missed. A celebration of Loretta's life will be held at Oakwood Crystal Chapel, Santa Cruz, on Wednesday, February 13, 2008 at 12:30 p.m. Services entrusted to Santa Cruz Memorial. A reception will follow.
