Martha Nell Reif of Lakeland, FL died March 14, 2016. She was born June 4, 1921 in Indiana to George and Julia Wallace.
She married the late Rev. Jack W. Reif on August 6, 1944.
Mrs. Reif attained her Bachelor’s degree at Taylor University and earned a Master’s degree from Illinois State University. She taught schools in North Dakota; Kansas; Quincy, IL and Alton, IL.
She was a founding member of the American Baptist Church of Lakeland, FL; served as president of the American Baptist Women’s Ministries of Florida; Sunday school teacher; Chaplain at Foxwood Lake Estates (Lakeland, FL); Moderator of American Baptists Area IV of Florida; a member of Church Women United; and served as an AARP 55 Alive instructor.
Mrs. Reif is survived by three children: Christina Woolwine and husband John Moen; Joel Reif and wife Cindy; Becky Hall and husband Kirby; 6 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, a daughter, a grandson, her parents, one brother and three sisters.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Lakeland Funeral Home Chapel, 2125 S. Bartow Highway, Lakeland, FL 33801, on Monday, March 28 at 1:30pm.
