J. H. Blair was a prominent pioneer of the early Pentecostal movement in Ontario. He was ordained in 1920, the first year of the PAOC, and pastored in Owen Sound, Southampton, planted a church in Mount Forest, Walkerton, and built Central Tabernacle in Hamilton- a church he pastored for 38 years. He was instrumental in forming Braeside Pentecostal Camp and served as the Western Ontario District Superintendent from 1933-1966, the longest serving officer in the history of the PAOC. He married Rosanna Thaler in 1922 and had three children: John Harold, Ruth, and Benjamin Franklin, who died in infancy. Affectionally known as J.H., Blair loved people and served with distinction. He died suddenly of a heart attack while pastoring in Dundas, Ontario. The "triumphant" funeral service was held at Bethel Gospel Tabernacle in Hamilton and included a message of tongues and interpretation.
