Dr. Jim Barron, 54, passed away on March 12, 2016. He was born on September 18, 1961 to the late, Mack and Mable Pugh Barron.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, March 16, 2016 from 5:00 - 8:00 PM and on Thursday, March 17 from 9:00 - 11:00 AM at Lakewood Funeral Home. Funeral services be held on Thursday at 11:00 AM in the funeral home chapel. A graveside service will be held at Sturgis Cemetery at 3:30 PM on Thursday.

Jim is survived by his daughter, Mary Tabor Barron; his son, Benjamin Barron; his fiance, Kelly Long; his sisters, Judy (James) Smith, June Barron, and Lou Barron; his nephews, Dax, Austin, Patrick, and Jerrod; and his nieces, Bianca, Alana, and Kayla.

Jim (Jimmy to his family) was a man that with a good lesson and a few hours to experiment could do anything he set his mind to. He was a decorated veteran of the Air Force and Air National Guard. He was hugely accomplished in the medical field as a certified nurse anesthetist at the University of Mississippi Medical Center and anesthetist for dental procedures. He also happily gave back to the medical community through his work in medical education in classes such as ACLS. He could do anything from scuba diving to carpentry, deep sea fishing to big game hunting, and even restored his own motorcycle. He was easiest found in the middle of a lake with his best friends and a beer or on his custom motorcycle sitting at the Chevron in Raymond with the town's 'gang' made up of his longtime friends.

Friends will remember him best, though, for his amazing and unique sense of humor that left the uninitiated wondering "was he serious?" and everyone else in tears. He was lovingly described as 'wicked,' 'morbid,' and filled with dry wit. It was said to have started even as a kid where he could be found decorating his mom's hair with tootsie roll wrappers so that she would walk into the store with them while they were on errands.

As a father, he will be remembered as being unashamed to be hand in hand with his kids on any and every adventure. He refused to be anything but hands on, whether he was coaching the team or teaching his kids on the gun range. He bought a trailer just so that his kids would never miss a weekend running bare foot in the cold around the fire pit when deer season came around or a day swimming for hours in the bayou during the summer.

When it came to his family, there was nothing he enjoyed more than taking care of them. He was unwavering and generous no matter the situation. Behind the humor and the strength, he kept every Christmas card, picture, newspaper clipping, and text message about his family saved. Christmas cards from his nephews and nieces were stuck in lock boxes alongside birth certificates because of how much he cherished them.

There are not enough words to encompass a life as remarkable and multi-faceted as his was. He'll live on in a million funny stories to be told and in the massive impact he had on the lives of everyone he met. He will be one man that surely will not be soon forgotten.
