Harvey B. Dellitt, son of John and Mary (McManus) Dellitt, was born at Sugar Grove, Mercer county, Illinois, March 24, 1860, and died at Davenport, Iowa, Sunday, October 14, 1906, aged 46 years, 6 months and 20 days. Mr. Dellitt had been in ill health since July 1st of the present year, but was not at any time seriously ill until the second week in September when he was seized with a severe pain in his right side. Recovering from this he found himself sufficiently strong to exhibit his live stock at the Mercer county fair, but was again stricken with a second attack Thursday evening, September 20th, while on the fair grounds. The usual physician's treatment gave no relief, he was taken to Chicago where he received beneficial treatment at the Francis E. Willard hospital. The trouble yielded to the treatment and Mr. Dellitt apparently recovered and had reached Davenport en route home when he was again taken ill. This was Sunday, October 7th. He was taken to Mercy hospital and there underwent a surgical operation for appendicitis on the following Tuesday, and his condition was considered favorable until the latter part of last week. Death came early Sunday morning.

Harvey Dellitt was united in marriage to Miss Anna McLaughlin at Muscatine, Iowa, in 1879, and to them were born two daughters, Mrs. Geo. Smith of Reynolds and Myrtle at home. The mother was called to her final rest March 8, 1901. June 19th of the same year he was married to Miss Bessie Tewell of Aledo, at Rock Island. To them were born one child, Alva Mae, now two years old. Three brothers and two sisters also survive him. They are John W., Marston, this county, Alva E., Davenport, Iowa, H. F., Guthrie Center, Iowa, Mrs. Anna Taylor of Hamlet, Mrs. Fannie Fender, Mt. Ayre, Iowa. All except A. F. were present at the funeral.

For a number of years the deceased had been quite extensively engaged in the raising of mules with considerable success. He leaves a farm of forty acres and $3,000 life insurance.

The funeral was conducted at the Hamlet Presbyterian church Tuesday at 11;30 with I. O. O. F. lodge of Millersburg in charge. Interment was in the Hamlet cemetery.
