Beardsley, Lucian B. III Retired M/Sgt US Army Retired from 3M age 91, formerly of West St. Paul, passed away on September 27, 2006. He was born in Saint Paul on July 16, 1915 to Lucian B. Beardsley, II and Irene Tracy. Preceded by his loving wife, Lillian (Gelao). Survived by sons Lou and Patrick (Teresa), grandchildren Sean and Meghan, and brother Harry Beardsley. Served in the Civilian Conservation Corps for three years in northern Minnesota and then enlisted in the U.S. Army in April of 1933 and was discharged in April of 1935. He re-enlisted in the U.S. Army in April of 1941, and subsequently retired after 23 years of dedicated service in March, 1963, as Master Sergeant. During World War II he served in combat duty in several campaigns including the Algeria-French Morocco, Tunisia, Naples-Foggia and Rome-Arno Campaigns. He also served in combat in the NATO forces during the Korean Conflict. During combat duty he was recognized for heroism and exceptional service receiving the: Bronze Star Medal; Bronze Star Medal (First Oak-Leaf Cluster); Purple Heart; Silver and Bronze Service Stars; American Defense, National Defense, United Nations and Korean Service Medals; World War II Victory Medal and Army of Occupation Medal with Japan Clasp. Subsequent to his retirement from the U.S. Army he worked for the Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing Company of Saint Paul until his retirement in June of 1975. Service Monday 11AM at the Minnesota Veteran's Home, Chapel of Peace, Bldg 15, 5101 Minnehaha Av. S., Minneapolis. Visitation 1 hour before the service.
