BLAIR, Nancy Mumma age 81 passed away Saturday, March 12, at Bighton Gardens Assisted Living facility. She was born September 28, 1934, in Dayton, Ohio to the late Irma and Ralph Mumma. After graduating for Wilbur Wright High School, Nancy earned a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from the University of Cincinnati. She opted for a military career by accepting a commission in the United States Air Force in 1958. Nancy attained the rank of Captain while serving in Tripoli, Libya, where she met her husband Donald in January 1964. They were married in September, 1964 and began life together at Selfridge AFB, Michigan. She served as Casualty Affairs Officer for southeast Michigan during the intense fighting in Southeast Asia and was honorably discharged from the service in 1965. While Donald served in Vietnam, she returned to Dayton and gave birth to her first son. Following assignments in Orlando, Florida and Fairbanks, Alaska, the family moved to Beavercreek, Ohio where they resided for twenty years. Nancy was devoted member of Kirkmont Presbyterian church in Beavercreek from 1973 until 1993 when she accompanied her husband to Ocala Florida in retirement. Beyond her faith in God, and her family, Nancy's first love was music and particularly singing in choirs at Kirkmont and Ocala West United Methodist Church, as well as community choirs. While in Ocala, Nancy selflessly volunteered many hours leading music activities for the residents of a nearby nursing home, particularly a somewhat raucous "kazoo" band. Nancy is survived by her husband Donald, sons Kevin(Jody)Blair and Mark(Julie)Blair, five grandchildren and a sister Barbara Savage; and all of her dear friends at Kirkmont and Ocala West. Celebration of Nancy's life will be announced at a later date with interment in Dayton National Cemetery.
