Bernice (Jackson) Wallace, age 93 of New Castle, passed away on Monday, March 14. 2016 at Providence New Castle. Friends and family will remember Bernice for her warm and caring manner, her wit, her industrious nature, and her love of God. Daughter of the late Alfred and Tressie (Hubbard) Jackson, she was one of ten children. Bernice grew up in Eastern Kentucky and came to north central Kentucky for nurses' training. She served as a nurse at Norvell Clinic in New Castle for 29 years. She was a member of the Gratz Seventh-day Adventist Church. Bernice was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Wallace.
Bernice is survived by her daughter, Sandy Powell (Lin), of New Castle; an "adopted" daughter, Cyndi Stephens (Mark) of Mayfield, Kentucky; twin brothers: Lyman Dee Jackson of Bend, Oregon, and Ramon Lee Jackson of Carmel, Indiana; one sister, Trilva Jean Buttree (Chuck), of Phoenix, Arizona, nieces and nephews.
A memorial service officiated by Pastor Lin Powell will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, March 20, 2016, at the Gratz Seventh-day Adventist Church, 427 Crittenden Street, Gratz, KY 40359 (GPS address), on KY Hwy 22 just east of downtown Gratz. A fellowship meal will follow the service. Visitation will begin at the church at 2:00 PM on Sunday. A private burial will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be given to the Gratz Seventh-day Adventist Church, 427 Crittenden Street, Gratz, KY 40359.
There will be no visitation at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.
