Born in Vancouver, Washington, she married Joseph McKenzie in 1951.

They were the loving parents of five children.

Joseph preceded Carolyn in death, as did three of their children: Sheree McKenzie Fisher, David McKenzie, and Rebecca McKenzie.

She moved to Idyllwild, CA where she met and married Robert Curnow. In 1981 they moved to Hemet, California where she was active with the American Legion Aux, Feed the Homeless, shuffle board and was always available to help others.

Robert Curnow passed in 2003.

She is survived by her two daughters Christine McKenzie Schramm and Lori McKenzie Bell, sister Waynie Karnoski, nine grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandson, and her long-time companion Samuel Mead. Carolyn had a full, happy life. Traveling was her passion. She was loved by all of her friends and family.

There will be a graveside service Tuesday, March 22nd, 2016 at 10:00 am at Sunset Lawn Memorial Park, 4701 Marysville Blvd., Sacramento, California.
