Nevada Highway Patrol troopers have identified a driver involved in a rollover accident on I-580 in Washoe Valley early Friday morning. A female passenger was pronounced dead on the scene near Bellevue Drive.

Troopers say preliminary crash investigation details indicate a white Dodge pickup driven by 50-year-old, Oscar Esparza of *Sparks, was heading south when he drifted off the roadway into the dirt median where it rolled, ejecting both people from the vehicle. The pickup landed on both its wheels and crossed both south lanes before stopping in a field.

Esparza was flown by Care Flight to a local hospital for treatment.

Troopers say both people were believed to have not been wearing their seat-belts at the time of the crash, just before 6:15 a.m.

Trooper Karen Garretson of the Nevada Highway Patrol's Mutli-Disciplinay Reconstruction Team (MIRT) is investigating this incident. Anyone who may have information related to this incident is encouraged to reach, [email protected], regarding case number NHP-160300279
