George Behrens Retired Plumber, Succumbs at 76
George W. Behrens, 76, of Rock Island, died at 6:53 last night in St. Anthony's Hospital following a six-week illness. Funeral services will be held Monday morning at 8:30 in the Wheelan Funeral Home and at 9 in St. Josephs Catholic Church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. The Rosary will be recited at 7:30 tomorrow evening in the funeral home, where friends may call after 7 tonight and from noon to 9p.m.' tomorrow.
Mr. Behrens was born March 9, 1882, in Rock Island, a son of Mr. and Mrs. George Behrens. He was reared and received his education in Rock Island and married Louisa S. Koehler in Rock Island April 6, 1912. He was a plumber before his retirement in 1946, and for many years was employed by E. IE. Lamp, plumber, and was a member of Rock Island Local, No. 25, Plumbers and Steamfitters Union.
Surviving are a son, William G.. Rock Island; three grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Anna Udders, Rock Island, and four brothers, Louis and Edward, both of Rock Island, and Carl and Harry, both of Chicago. His wife, parents and a sister preceded him in death.
