Walter served as a First Lieutenant, Quartermaster Corps, U.S. Army during World War II.

He resided in Fairfield County, Connecticut prior to the war.

Walter apparently was one of the American Agents that went to the Philippines prior to the war to help them with economic development. He enlisted in the U.S. Army while working in the Philippine Islands and therefore Entered Service From Philippines.

He became a POW of the Japanese Army in the "Fall Of The Philippines" in May, 1942.

Walter "Died While A POW" of the Japanese Army at POW Camp 1, Cabanatuan 1-2-3, Nueva Province, Luzon, Philippines 15-121 during the war.

He was awarded the Prisoner Of War Medal and the Purple Heart.

Service # O-890084

He also has a "Cenotaph" at the Cabanatuan Memorial, Manila, Philippines.
