John was born to Marie (Abney) and Pliny Saeger in Seattle, WA. He was the youngest of 4 chidren. Raised in West Seattle, he graduated from West Seattle High School. He also served in WWII. He married Beverly Allen in 1950 and together they raised 3 children. John was called "Papa John" by his grandchildren. He spent many years living in Montana after retirement. He passed away in 2006 while living in Las Vegas with his son, Bobby.
John was preceded in death by his parents, all of his siblings: Pliny Jr, Katie, and June...and his daughter, Jeanne in 2001.
He is survived by his son, Robert Saeger; 5 granddaughters: Nichole, Jessica, Julia, Marina, and Danica...and 8 great-grandchildren.
His daughter, Jill (Saeger) Knapp recently passed away in 2021.
