"God sent his Angels to take him back home"
Jose Porfiro Chacon, age 89, passed away Monday, March 7, 2016 surrounded by family. Jose was born February 20, 1927 in Capulin, CO. o Vicente and Charlette Chacon. On October 31, 1950 Jose married the love of his life, Mary Lou Valdez, and has spent the last 65 years and 6 months together. They were always side by side through thick and thin. Jose was very out-going, he loved being outdoors and enjoyed fishing, gardening, traveling and spending time with family. He never missed a family event and he loved birthday parties. Jose was very "blunt" and out spoken, and many will remember him by that. However, he had the biggest heart and would give the shirt off his back or be there in a time of need. He will also be missed by man's best friend, his little dog Simba.
Gone, but not forgotten, he will always be missed and will be in our hearts forever.
Jose is survived by his wife Mary Lou Chacon and children Joseph, Johnny, Susie and Richard Chacon, 15 grandchildren, and 26 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers, 1 sister, 1 grandson, and 1 great-grandbaby.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 15, 2016 at Our Lady of Guadalupe located at 257 North 700 West, Salt Lake City, UT at 12 PM where a Rosary will begin at 11 AM. A visitation will be held Monday, March 14, 2016 from 6 to 8 PM at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, located at 3401 S. Highland Drive, Salt Lake City, UT.
