Amelia sailed with her her mother, Elizabeth and her brother William on board the ship "Victory" from England 22 November 1853 for Western Australia.

Her father had previously arrived in Australia on 23 Apr 1875 as a convict.

She married William Gibson on 08 Oct 1861.
