THE LAMPASAS LEADER
FRIDAY, AUGUST 31, 1906
Pioneer Preacher Dead.
Rev. Jonathan Bittick, familiarly known as "Uncle Jonathan" died Monday morning at day break. He was at the home of his nephew, Albert Bittick of Leander, where he and his aged wife were spending a few days.
Deceased was 74 years old, had been in Texas nearly all of his life, having spent over sixty years on the frontier engaged in farming, stock raising and preaching to the pioneers. His wife, a brother and a few other relatives survive him. Rev. Bittick was well known here especially by the old settlers of the county who will regret to learn of his death. He was a faithful and devout christian and in the course of his life did a great deal of good.
