She was the daughter of Ruth and William R. Waddell. Loving wife of the late Maury Williams for two years. Prior to that she was the dear wife of the late Charles J. Cannon for 55 years. In addition to them, she was also predeceased by her daughter, Sallie Jane Cannon, and her sister Esther Mohan. Devoted mother of Charles J. Cannon III (Harriet), Kathleen Cannon Rafferty (Dennis), and Suzannah Cannon Milling (John). Loving grandmother of eight, Michael Rafferty, Ned Cannon, Matthew Rafferty, Sarah Kishpaugh, Jesse Clover, John Milling, Kathleen Milling, and Mollie Richards. Also of 13 great grandchildren, Victoria, Gabrielle, Eliza, Will, Bridget, Kate, Parker Jane, Brooks, Pete, Finn, Michael, Charles and Theodore. She will also be dearly missed by her brother, Bill Waddell (Carolee), Bonnie Waters (Bob), Judy Williams, and Amy, Shelley, Bethany, and Laine Williams, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was very well read and loved music and the theater. She had written for the Birmingham Eccentric, and articles for the Detroit News Sunday Magazine. She had written two novels for young adults, and a historical piece about Franklin Village that won a prize. She had been the President of the Detroit Women Writers Association. She sang in church choirs, for community groups, and with the Livonia Civic Chorus. She had a big heart, a lively sense of humor, and a love of learning.
