Mrs. Wanda McKinney, 74 of Sand Springs, died Friday, March 11, 2016 at Rockcastle Regional Hospital. She was born in Rockcastle County, KY on April 30, 1941 the daughter of Ernest and Edna Marler Poynter. She was a homemaker and a member of Sand Springs Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Casper "Cap" McKinney; six sons, Jeff and Sheila McKinney, Terry and Gloria McKinney, and Michael and Anastasia McKinney, all of Mt. Vernon, Gary McKinney of Eddyville, Jack and Becky McKinney of Brodhead, and Jon and Toni McKinney of Somerset; eight daughters, Vicky and Granville Graves, Cathy and Chad Payne, Marsha Harris, Christy and Chuck Smith, Polly and Porter Smith, and Angie Taylor, all of Mt. Vernon, Debby and Robbie Mitchell of Crab Orchard, and Tammy and Junior Roark of Stanford; a brother, Larry Poynter of Mt. Vernon; and a sister, Alma Pittman of Somerset. Also surviving are 42 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Stephen Elijah McKinney; and a brother, Lester Poynter.
