Johnny Dean Sparks, age 77, of Phillips Road in Spruce Pine, died Sunday, August 23, 2015 at the Blue Ridge Regional hospital in Spruce Pine.
Born on August 16, 1938 in Mitchell County, he was the son of the late Cecil and Winnie Pittman Sparks. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers; Cecil Sparks, Jr.; Jimmy Ray Sparks; and Gerald David Sparks; and his sisters; Betty Jean Poteat and Elizabeth Hart.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife; Barbara Jones Sparks of Spruce Pine; his daughter; Terri Fisher of Chapel Hill, NC; his brother; Larry Lee Sparks and wife, Carolyn of Spruce Pine; brother-in-law; Junior Jones and wife, Sherry of Spruce Pine; several nieces and nephews.
The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence at the Buchanan Cemetery on Gouge’s Creek Road for the graveside service for Johnny Sparks at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, August 24, 2015 with the Rev. Nathan Silver officiating. Interment will follow in the Buchanan Cemetery.
