Lt. Col. Francis Daniel MILEY
Francis Miley peacefully passed away at home March 7, 2016. He was 93. Frank was born in Houston, Texas on January 5, 1923 to Eudora (Gettings)and Benjamin Rhodes Miley. He attended grade school in Houston, minor seminary in Louisiana and began some college training in Canada.
He was drafted into WWII serving in the Army Air Corps until 1946. While in Nebraska in 1945 he met Marcia Gilsdorf and they were married June 1945. This union produced seven children. After WWII, Frank attended and graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a degree in business.
In 1951 he joined the Air Force, continuing his long military service of over 25 years. He traveled worldwide to places such as Iceland, Germany and Japan, while his wife and children remained in the States. Frank retired from the Air Force in 1968 and the family soon set their roots in Spokane, Washington.
Marcia passed in 1994 and two years later he married Floriene Hoke who gave him many years of love and companionship. They resided in Katy, Texas and Spokane, Washington.
Frank is preceded in death by his parents, first wife Marcia, brother Benjamin, and son-in-law Bradford Coverdell.
Survived by Floriene; his daughters Sharon Meadows and Aileen Coverdell; sons Robert (and Lupe), David, James, Benjamin (and Marcia) and Edward; numerous grandchildren and great-grand-children.
Visitation will be Monday, March 14, 10 am to 7 pm at Hennessey Funeral Home at 2203 N. Division St., Spokane, WA. The Vigil (Rosary) is scheduled for Monday evening at 7 pm, March 14 at Hennessey. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, March 15 at 10am, at St. Charles Catholic Church, 4515 N. Alberta St., Spokane, WA with reception to follow. Interment is at Holy Cross Cemetery.
