Author. He was born near Chicago, Illinois. Ford was a well-known science fiction and fantasy writer, game designer and poet. His first novel was "Web of Angels" (1980). In 1983 he won a World Fantasy Award for his novel "The Dragon Waiting: A Masque of History", and in 1993 he was awarded the Phillip K. Dick Memorial Award for "Growing Up Weightless". But perhaps he is best remembered for his two "Star Trek" novels, "The Final Reflection" and "How Much for Just the Planet?", and his poem "110 Stories". His last works were "The Last Hot Time" and "Heat of Fusion", in 2004.
